Named in honor of Michael R. Huggins, principal of Silverstreet Middle School for 21 years and an assistant principal at Newberry Junior High School. He was a charter member of the Silverstreet Ruritan Club, and past president of the Newberry Municipal Association. He was a member of Silverstreet Lutheran Church where he was a Lifetime member of the Silverstreet Men in Mission, a former Sunday School teacher and former member of the church council.
